As soon as all scans of a group or subgroup have been aligned, you should perform a cross-scan bundle adjustment. This automatically adds additional links between neighboring scans, which stabilizes the group and thus stabilizes the registration and minimizes errors.
Bundle adjustment within a group
In order for a bundle adjustment to be carried out, it is necessary to activate the Move option for all scans to be adjusted. However, always deactivate the Move option during a scan. This scan is the scan that everyone else aligns with.
For the bundle adjustment, set the values of the Cloud 2 Cloud calculation to appropriate appropriate settings. Since we are working outdoors in this example, these are:
- Area size -> Building Scale (the buildings should be aligned with each other)
- Cloud distances -> Very close (it has already been pre-registered)
- Cloud resolution -> Very hight (the scans should be loaded in high resolution)
Finally start the Cloud 2 Cloud calculation by clicking the Snap Scans button. Alternatively, you can press the S key.
