Since it was officially announced that Autodesk will discontinue the ReCap mobile app on March 31, 2021, we have been receiving more and more questions about how to continue working with the BLK360 in the future.
In this post we would like to point out possible alternatives.
ReCap Alternative 1: Leica Register360 or BLK Edition
With the Register360 BLK Edition, Leica offers an interesting alternative for taking stock with the BLK360. The BLK Edition also comes with a mobile app with which you can register and organize the scans on site and make additional documentation. We have put together more information for you in the tutorial: Leica BLK360 Cyclone Field App Operating Instructions.
The Register360 BLK Edition can be rented from € 72.50 per week, for example. More information or can be found in our shop.
ReCap Alternative 2: PinPoint Registration Tool
With their PinPoint software, Scasa has also implemented a direct interface to the Leica BLK360. You can download and register the data directly from the BLK360. Alternatively, you can also output the data directly and unregistered as e57 or ReCap format and register it in ReCap. You can find more information on this in the tutorial: Import Leica BLK360 raw data.
The PinPoint software can be rented on a project-by-project basis for 79 € per month. You can find more information in our shop.
Matterport Capture App
Matterport offers another app for operating the Leica BLK360. The capture app saves the data directly in the Matterport cloud service. Post-processing is not required, just a monthly cloud contract. We have put together more information in this tutorial: Establishing the connection between the BLK360 and the Matterport Capture app.
The Matterport Capture app itself is free. We would be happy to provide you with a cloud account here.
